Hydraulic Filters
In a typical hydraulic system, hydraulic fluid and hydraulic filter work together for better protection of internal hydraulic system components from premature wear that offers longer component life, less system downtime, lower maintenance costs and saving time and money.
Different types of hydraulic filters are used in hydraulic systems:
Suction Side Filters:
They are usually installed before hydraulic pump in order to protect the pump from harmful contaminants that are inside hydraulic fluid. The filtering material used inside this type of filter is typically with higher micron rating such as wire screen.
In-Tank Breather Filters:
These filters are located on the reservoir, they are used to prevent moisture and other contaminants from entering the reservoir tank.
Off Line Filters:
They are used, independent from the hydraulic system for cleaning hydraulic fluid before it enters the hydraulic system. Fluid is pulled from the reservoir through the filter and is returned back to it.
Return Side Filters:
These filters are located between the control valve and the fluid reservoir and they are designed to capture wear debris from the hydraulic systems working components before returning the fluid back to the reservoir. The material used in these filters is designed to remove common size wear particles that may be generated by these system components.
Pressure Side Filters:
They are located downstream from the hydraulic pump and are designed to clean the fluid as it exits the pump to protect more sensitive system components such as control valves and actuators from contaminants generated from the pump. The typical filtering material used in these filters is capable of removing a high percentage of the smaller particles of contaminant.
